Reviewing for Content The reviewing process should be a multi-step activity. 1. Start with the detailed Requirement Checklist
- Display the chapter/section each requirement is addressed in the actual proposal
- Consider including an edited version of the checklist in your final proposal to give the client a "road map" showing your responses to each of the client's problems and requirements
(excerpt from "Handbook for Writing Proposals", by Robert J. Hamper and L. Sue Baugh) 2. Where appropriate, set-up a "Red Team"
- A "Red Team" consists "of people who did not write the proposal, so they will look at it without any preconceived notions.
Ideally, they should be individuals who can play the role of customer in terms of expertise, personality type, and priorities." ("Persuasive Business Proposals", by Tom Sant)
- Define the Red Team's job
"The job of the red team reviewers is to be as objective, factual, fair and specific as possible. The responsibilities of your red team reviewers, in order of priority, include:
-
- Checking for compliance with the RFP requirements
- Checking for clear, compelling win themes
- Reviewing the proof statements and evidence: Are they relevant and convincing?"
("Persuasive Business Proposals", by Tom Sant)
